The Sunrise

The Sun rises in the east, in front of my eyes
I see it from the vantage point of my high rise balcony
Ocean calm as a new born baby
The rustle of falling water, the occasionally constant chirping of the birds
Sitting in the hammock, slowly opening my eyes
Is the Sun copying me too?
It was right there, then slowly hid behind the small patch of clouds
And now it’s full and bright, like my own eyes
The coconut trees, clear blue ocean water
And oh the two steamers parting ways
Everything is so calm and quiet
So is finally my heart and mind.

Now the Sun rises out of the clouds again, my eyes brighten
The chairs on the beach, the gorgeous water in the pools
The clear white sand, the circling birds in the sky
The gourmet food, the flowing wines
The authentic touch of Mexico, the rustic buildings
My eyes meander, I shift my gaze indoors
There on the huge bed lie a sight to behold
My lovely little two angels fast asleep
Can my mind be as peaceful as theirs anymore?

Got up early in the morning, the Sun was just rising
Behind the clear blue water, under the gray orange skies
Tied my shoelaces, fixed my shirt
Decided to go for a run on the oceanfront
Water was warm, sand soft
Workers clearing the seaweeds, saying an occasional Hola
I ran bare feet, my lungs greedily filling up the fresh air
Gasping for breath after 10 mins was never so much fun
Walked back slowly as my footsteps in the sand disappeared behind me.
